Description

“Inheritance of Light” is a layered meditation on transformation, memory, and the intergenerational transmission of emotion. Standing tall at 24 x 36 inches, this piece divides itself vertically into three luminous fields: radiant yellow above, deep magenta in the middle, and rich purple below — a gradient of light descending into shadow, or perhaps of shadow rising into clarity.

These central color fields are enclosed within a thick black border, fractured and cracking, revealing the vibrancy beneath. This crumbling edge is not decay, but unveiling — a metaphor central to the Through the Cracks collection: that what we seek to contain eventually finds a way to emerge, more powerful for its imperfection.

From the base, soft violet bushes bloom into a tree trunk that rises through the magenta and blossoms into yellow branches, signaling growth through contrast — dark to light, root to bloom. The tree is an axis of passage, a living conduit of inherited strength, and its form echoes how time and identity pass through us.

Two mirrored hearts hover between the transitions of color: one straddling purple and magenta, its split color suggesting love forged through duality; the other between magenta and yellow, its reversal hinting at reciprocity — that what we offer, we receive.
